The DSCW Arts &
Science Library organised an
International Orientation Program on ‘Library Resources’ both for Library
Staff and for students as well in the Arts and Science Library of DSCW.
To encourage the
young minds about the pleasure of reading, the faculty of DSCW library
celebrated World Book and Copyright Day
on 23rd April 2024 in the library. Books of renowned and influential authors
were exhibited. On this occasion, the librarian made the students aware about
the basics of copyright.

International Yoga day by organising Book Exhibition on 21st June, 2024.
The Library Department
of Dev Samaj College for Women, Ferozepur, has launched a commendable
initiative aimed at supporting underprivileged girls who lack access to
educational resources especially books. Spearheaded by Principal Dr. Sangeeta,
The Books Donation Drive aims to collect used books and redistribute
them to those in need. It will also raise awareness among students and faculty
about the importance of sharing resources to support education.The Library
Department has set up collection points within the library itself for
convenient drop-offs.

on 132nd Birth Anniversary of Dr. Ranganathan by organizing PAPER PRESENTATION
on 12th August 2024.
As per the guidelines of the Government of
Punjab and DPI, Dev Samaj College for Women Ferozepur,under the guidance of
Chairman Shirman Nirmal Singh Ji Dhillon and Dr. Sangeeta, Officiating
Principal, inaugurated a series of book review programs on 21 August,2024. Dr. Amit Kumar, Head, Post Graduate Department of History, reviewed the book
“Chinta Chhodo Sukh Se Jio.” by Dale Carnegie_ with the audience and encouraged
them to read it for better mental health.
Another insightful book was reviewed in our ongoing Book Review Series on 24 August,2024. Dr. Mokshi , Head, Post Graduate Department of Zoology, reviewed the book “Environmental issues of development” by Ganesh Kawadia and Kanhaiya Ahuja with the audience and encouraged them to read it for better understanding about the environment related issues in developing countries. She shared that the book inspires us to understand how these policies and techniques help different countries to rectify the major problem related to environment.
An Orientation Programme was organized by the faculty members of DSCW Library from 2nd September to 6th September, 2024. During the programme, students were introduced to various software and resources available in the library, including Web OPAC, the library management software ‘Koha’, e-resources, N-LIST, DELNET, the library blog, and periodicals. This initiative aimed to familiarize students with the digital tools and resources accessible for academic research and learning
Under the patronage of Chairman, Shriman Nirmal Singh Ji Dhillon and the able guidance of Principal Dr. Sangeeta, the Library Department organized the ORIENTATION PROGRAM for teachers. Mrs. Alka, Incharge, Science Library Department, informed the teachers about the library's rules and regulations.Dr. Sandhya Avasthi, Incharge Arts Library, provided information about N-List, Del-Net, Blog, Web, OPAC, Journal, E-Journal and E-Books. Teachers were thoroughly instructed on how they could search online for the books they need from the library, being whether at home, in the staff room, or elsewhere. The teachers enthusiastically engaged with the orientation program, making the most of the opportunity. Dr. Sandhya addressed the teachers' questions about online book searches with remarkable eloquence

On October 25, 2024, the Post Graduate Department of Economics, under the patronage of Shriman Nirmal Singh Ji Dhillon and Dr. Sangeeta Sharma, Officiating Principal, held a Student Enrichment Program with the PG Department of Zoology and the College Library to enhance students’ digital research skills. The workshop, conducted in the Arts and Science Libraries, introduced students to Koha Software, providing hands-on experience with digital databases for academic research.On this occasion ,Dr. Sangeeta Sharma, Officiating Principal,highlighted the long-term academic benefits of digital literacy and credible online resources.
Ferozepur, September 2, 2024: As part of the Punjab Government’s “Chalo Library” campaign, the Dev Samaj College for Women organized a series of book review sessions, under the tutelage of Principal Dr Sangeeta.On the third day of these sessions, Assistant Professor of Post-Graduate History, Mrs. Ruchi Kakkar, reviewed the ancient Indian astrological text ‘Brihat Samhita’ written by Varahamihira. Mrs. Ruchi Kakkar highlighted the book’s comprehensive coverage of natural elements, astrology, meteorology, gemology, Vastu Shastra, astronomy, geography, medicine, therapy, fortune-telling, and physiognomy. She emphasized that ‘Brihat Samhita’ provides a clear and detailed analysis of these diverse subjects, remaining relevant and educational even today
Ferozepur, September 7, 2024: As part of the Punjab Government’s “Chalo Library” campaign, the Dev Samaj College for Women organized a series of book review sessions, under the patronage of Shriman Nirmal Singh Ji Dhillon and guidance of Principal Dr Sangeeta Sharma. On the fourth day of these sessions, Assistant Professor of Post-Graduate department of Commerce, Mrs. Priyanka Raheja, reviewed the spiritual self help book ‘Ask and it is given ’ written by Esther and Jerry Hicks. This book delves into the teachings of Abraham, a collective consciousness and offers guidance on manifesting desires and living a fulfilling life.
Ferozepur, September 14, 2024: As part of the Punjab Government’s “Chalo Library” campaign, Dev Samaj College for Women organized another book review session under the patronage of Shriman Nirmal Singh Ji Dhillon and guidance of Principal Dr Sangeeta Sharma.Dr. Manjot, Assistant Professor in Post-Graduate department of Commerce reviewed the book “Personality Development” by Dr. M. Shobha Rani and M. Rathan Jyothy. Dr. Manjot viewed this book as a comprehensive and insightful guide to understanding and improving one’s personality. The authors provide a thorough exploration of the concept of personality, its components, and the factors that influence it.The authors use clear language and provide practical examples, making the concepts more relatable and applicable to real-life situations.To conclude, “Personality Development” is an excellent guide for personal and professional growth.

Dr. Geetanjli, Assistant Professor, Botany reviewed “Two Lives” a memoir by an Indian Poet and Novelist Vikram seth “Two Lives”, is a subtle portrayal of complexities of long companionship of two people who come from two different cultures. Despite number of differences, they set a perfect example of true love and companionship. It makes this book a perfect read to quench the thirst for cultural values amalgamated with historical context.

Principal Dr. Sangeeta . Ms Kanika Sachdeva, Head, P.G. Department of Cosmetology & Health care, reviewed Historical Rama by D.K. Hari and D.K. Hema Hari. The book explores Lord Rama's possible historical existence through astronomy, geography, and archaeology, offering intriguing insights but relying on interpretation rather than solid proof.

Assistant Professor P.G. Department of English, reviewed *The Definitive Book
of Body Language* by Allan and Barbara Pease. This book provides a detailed
exploration of non-verbal communication, emphasizing its crucial role in
shaping human interactions. Using real-life examples, case studies, and
exercises the book shows how mastering body language can lead to better
relationships, professional success, and a deeper understanding of human
behavior.
As part of the Punjab Government's "Chalo Library" campaign, Dev Samaj College for Women recently held another impactful book review session under the esteemed patronage of Shriman Nirmal Singh Ji Dhillon and the guidance of Principal Dr. Sangeeta Sharma.In this session, Mrs. Palak, an Assistant Professor in the P.G. Department of English, reviewed Marhi Da Deeva by S. Gurdial Singh. This novel, originally published in 1964, delves into the socio-cultural and emotional landscape of a pre-liberalization Punjab, shortly after India's independence. The story revolves around Jagseer and his mother, Nandi, unraveling themes of untouchability, caste discrimination, love, and generational hatred. With powerful storytelling, the novel draws readers into an intense emotional journey, evoking empathy and introspection as it sheds light on deeply rooted societal issues.
As part of the Punjab Government’s “Chalo Library” campaign, Dev Samaj College for Women held another engaging book review session under the patronage of Shriman Nirmal Singh Ji Dhillon and the guidance of Principal Dr. Sangeeta Sharma on 9th November, 2024.Mr. Lakshay Kamboj, Assistant Professor, P.G. Department of English, reviewed The Memory Book by Harry Lorayne and Jerry Lucas. This book probes into the mnemonic techniques used for memory enhancement which can be useful for various real-life circumstances. This book explains how eidetic memory can be used to remember non-tangible abstract things such as long numbers and complex words or ideas which play a necessary part in educational and professional scenarios.
