DSCW LIBRARY CELEBRATES WORLD BOOK & COPY RIGHT DAY
Under the able guidance of Chief Patron Dr. Agnese Dhillon, Chairperson, Dev Samaj College for Women, Ferozepur; Patron Adv. Ajay Batta, Secretary, DSCW; and Convenor Dr. Sangeeta, Principal, DSCW, the Library Department of Dev Samaj College for Women, Ferozepur celebrated World Book and Copyright Day with great enthusiasm on 23rd April 2026 in the Arts Library of the college.
The event was organised to promote reading habits among students, develop a love for books, and spread awareness about the importance of literature and intellectual property rights. On this occasion, a Book Reading Session and a Book Donation Drive were conducted with active participation from students and faculty members.
During the programme, students were informed that World Book and Copyright Day was initiated by UNESCO to encourage reading, publishing, and copyright awareness worldwide. They were also apprised that 23 April is associated with renowned literary figures such as William Shakespeare, making the day globally significant for literature lovers.
Students enthusiastically participated in the reading session by sharing passages from their favourite books and discussing the importance of reading for personal growth and academic success. Through the Book Donation Drive, students and staff donated useful books to enrich the library collection and support fellow learners.
Dr. Sangeeta, Principal, appreciated the efforts of the Library Department and motivated students to make reading a regular habit. She stated that books are the best companions, as they broaden knowledge, imagination, and wisdom.
The event was successfully coordinated by the library staff and faculty members. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and a renewed commitment by the institution to promote knowledge, learning, and literary culture among students
