 National Webinar on "Library Services during Pandemic"

Under the stewardship of Honourable Chairman Shri Nirmal Singh Dhillon ji and the guidance of our worthy Principal Dr. Mrs. Ramnita Sharda ji, the Library Department, DSCW is organizing a National Webinar on “Library Services during Pandemic” on Monday, 17th May, 2021 at 11.00 am. 

The purpose of this Webinar is to highlight the challenges being faced by the library users as well as the library professionals. It also focuses to explore the types of services which have been quite instrumental in these turbulent times. Students, research scholars and faculty members are invited to attend the Webinar.

Library: An Overview

A library is said to be the heart of any institution. The library of Dev Samaj College for Women is as old as the institute. Established in 1934, DSCW Library is housed in a three stories building. It has about seventy thousand books on various subjects. There are dictionaries, encyclopedias, maps, and another reference sources available on various subjects. It has richest collection with 70,141 printed books, more than 6 lakhs e-books, 6000 titles of e-journals, and around 20 databases like- JSTOR, EBSCOHOST, ProQuest, MedLine etc. The library is subscribing 40 printed journals, 20 magazines, 10 daily newspapers. Library is fully equipped and fully automated through its software named as LibSys.

The library is divided into three major sections-General Books Section, Reference Section and Periodical Section. The library has three reading rooms which can provide seating accommodation to about two hundred students at a time. UG Student can get two books and PG students can get four books issue for fourteen days. The best library user is selected on the basis of the number of books borrowed and used. The ex-students can come to the library at any time in their spare time. Our college library is a big source of our knowledge, hope and inspiration.
